To be honest, it's the hardest decision in my life every time Xmas comes. Children are all different and what amazes me every time is that you can't predict what your beloved child would choose and be keen on the item chosen. I personally try to make the presents as adjacent to their desires as possible. I've even found an article helping to define which Christmas gifts to choose for kids on https://findmykids.org/blog/en/the-best-christmas-and-new-year-gifts-for-kids-top-ideas . It's been really helpful since my children are pretty excited when I make them gifts and they even don't crush on random things as usual, which eases my choice a lot, you know.

All children are different and every child needs very special way to find out what gift would be better for him

I'm not really sure about making diy for kids, they usually don't value such things, at least when they're too small

I think you can find a good gift for your children in some store with Christmas toys or you can try to make a gift with your own hands, there are a lot of ideas
